Chiropractic students, like medical students, take at least 2 years of prerequisite coursework, heavy in the basic sciences before entering their respective doctorate programs.
Chiropractors are very well educated, but not in exactly the same topics as medical doctors.
Both programs are very strenuous and the students take years of science courses including anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, and histology to name a few.
Where the emphasis differs is that medical students take courses on pharmacology and surgery.
Chiropractic students instead take in-depth courses on spinal anatomy, nutrition, injury rehabilitation, chiropractic philosophy, diagnosis, administering and marking x-rays, and techniques for adjusting the spine.
The focus of the education is different, as you can see from this chart.
