Looking Sexy and Alive - Peak Body Efficiency: Sitting

The best sitting posture:

  • Your neck and back should be straight, not slouched forward
  • Your torso should be at a 90 degree angle from your thighs
  • Hips and knees bent to 90 degrees
  • Feet should be flat on the floor, or on a small stool, so that your hips and knees remain at 90 degrees
  • Do not cross your legs at your knees, this misaligns the spine and causes low back pain
  • Keep eyes level with the horizon when looking at the computer screen, to avoid neck pain and strain
  • Head should be facing forward, not turned to the side, even a little
  • Keep elbows close to your sides, and at a 90 degree angle while typing and using the mouse.
  • Notice when you get tired and how you slouch, that is the clue to take a break

Very important to take breaks if you’re usually sitting at a desk for long periods of time.

A few tricks to do that are:

  1. Get up and get some water, then drink a lot of it
  2. Go and use the restroom
  3. Stand up and stretch your neck, back and arms in the opposite positions that they were in while you was sitting
  4. Do some yoga or deep breathing
  5. Go outside and catch a few quick rays of sun
  6. A trick is to put your printer in a different room, or somewhere that you can’t reach sitting at your desk, then it forces you to get up to retrieve the documents you have printed or copied
  7. Take a 5 minute walk
  8. On your lunch break, don’t sit at your desk to eat, go to a different place
